While Apple’s Macintoshes have always been associated with an all-work-no-play attitude, the company has often attempted to draw in gamers ever since the release of the first Mac and its associated OS.
While the results have been admittedly mixed, Apple does seem to be pushing AAA gaming more than ever with the onset of its M-series of Apple Silicon chips with titles such as Assassin’s Creed Shadows making a day 1 release on the platform.
As such we will a look into the best games you can play on your Mac, in 2024.
5 of the best games to play on your Mac in 2024
1) Lies of P

Lies of P is a souls-like, drawing many parallels from developer FromSoftware’s lineup of challenging yet rewarding titles. The game can be best described as a retelling of Pinocchio, and is definitely one of the more unique souls-likes you can play right now.
The game runs on Apple Silicon exceptionally well, and is a blast to play through. The Mac version of the game can be purchased from both the App Store and Steam app.
2) Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

Resident Evil 7 was a return to form for Capcom, bringing the series back to its survival horror roots with intense, well scripted moments and strict inventory management.
The Mac version of the game is largely similar to its Windows/PC counterpart, complete with the entire DLC roster and enhancements – making it a complete experience within the platform.
Interestingly, this version of the game comes equipped with several additional benefits such as ultrawide support and MetalFX upscaling for better performance and scalability.
Resident Evil 7 Biohazard is exclusive to the App Store and is only compatible with Apple Silicon.
3) Death Stranding Director’s Cut

Kojima Production’s Death Stranding arrived for Macs during a surprise gaming showcase in a prior Apple event. The game is director Hideo Kojima’s newest project after his exit from Konami (and Metal Gear).
Death Stranding for Macs is available in the App Store as the Director’s Cut version, which includes all enhancements and prior DLCs. The game is only available for Apple Silicon devices though, and is unable to run on Intel-based Macs.
4) Baldur’s Gate 3

Larian’s flagship RPG, Baldur’s Gate 3 received a native Mac version shortly after its Windows and console releases. The game follows a traditional D&D format, complete with a lengthy campaign and a turn-based battle system.
While the game still has a few issues on Apple’s platform, it still is a playable experience and worth trying out.
The game can be played (and purchased) via Steam and includes support for both Intel and Apple Silicon machines.
5) Resident Evil 4 (remake)

The remake of the classic Resident Evil 4 also made its way to Macs sometime earlier this year, boasting enhanced features and the whole suite of DLCs. The game is a clear departure from the much slower paced Resident Evil games prior – focusing more on action and fast gameplay.
Resident Evil 4 is also exclusive to the App Store and only playable on Apple Silicon, mandating a M1 chip or newer. The game cannot be played on Macs via Steam either.
