Dynasty Warriors Origins lets players utilize a wide range of weapons in active combat – with there being a total of 10 subtypes to choose from in the campaign. As such, choosing your favorite weapon can be quite the conundrum – given how differently all of these play through.
You can find a compiled list of the best weapons in Dynasty Warriors Origins within a rather subjective tier list below. Keep in mind that while some weapons may be flat out superior compared to others, it is still recommended to experiment and choose one that aligns with your playstyle.

B Tier weapons
- Gauntlets: These weapons are great for one on one, close quarter battles but lack any appreciable range. They are not as effective in handling large groups of enemies either.
- Lances: Favors a high risk high reward playstyle, boosting your combo’s strength by receiving damage from enemies. While the damage boost is quite significant, it is far too risky to use for a prolonged period of time.
- Swords: The basic starter weapon in the game, can be chained into combos and is quite balanced. However, it doesn’t exactly stand out and is just about okay to use.
A Tier weapons
- Wheels: Deceptively short in range, while in reality are quite far reaching when you play them right. While quite fun to use, they take some time to master and are just not as effective as other weapon types in this list.
- Staves: Surprisingly effective, despite initial impressions. Can be used to chain into combos and launch enemies into the air, but is more useful against Officers over large groups of enemies.
- Spears: Spears are simple to use, and have decent reach. Overall a very solid weapon, but a lot less efficient compared to later items in this list.
S Tier weapons
- Podao: Surprisingly fast and effective for something that almost resembles a broadsword, and has very good Battle Arts to go with. Very much an endgame weapon.
- Halberds: Very strong, and have incredible range. Can take out large groups of enemies with relative ease, but can be quite slow compared to other weapons. Only accessible after you complete the campaign.
SS Tier weapons
- Twin Pikes: Very fast and formidable weapons, and can chew down through mobs with precision and speed. Twin Pikes come with the best Heavy Attacks, but at the cost of mediocre Battle Arts.
- Crescent Blades: Arguably the best weapon in all of Dynasty Warriors Origins. This weapon type is unlocked at the very end of the campaign, and comes with a ton of firepower and range to make up for it.
