As you make your way through Metaphor ReFantazio you will be able to come across a lot of Elmentas. These are round orb-like enemies that appear in dungeons from time to time and are one of the rarer enemy types in the JRPG.
They are also pretty difficult to take out as they will flee during their turn icon like the special enemy types (Treasure Demons), from the Persona series. Fortunately, much like those enemies, taking down an Elmenta will also offer you greater MAG, money, EXP, and special rewards. So taking them down every time you see one should be your first priority.

As mentioned, Elmentas are rare enemies that you will encounter in dungeons while you are on a Gauntlet Runner. They will try to run away from you as soon as they spot you so you will have to hunt them down.
Moreover, make sure that before starting Squad Battle you are hitting the Elmenta a few times. The more you hit the higher chance it will have of being stunned and losing out on its Turn Icon.
It will prevent the enemy from escaping and your goal will be to give your team as many Turn icons as possible.
Once the Squad Battle starts you will want to exploit the Elmenta’s weakness and take it out before its turn. Here is a list of all the Elmentas in Metaphor ReFantazio, along with their locations and weaknesses.
